Suni-Diganth set to make you laugh and fall in love

Certain director-actor combinations have always stirred up excitement among the audience. One such is that of Simple Suni and Diganth. The duo are joining hands for a film to be made under Pushkar Films (produced by Pushkara Mallikarjunaiah). It will be a romance-based film, which is known to be their forte.

This is the first time that Suni and Diganth will be associating for a film, although it will be the second time that Dignath and Pushkara are working together, after their first film, Katheyondu Shuruvagide, which is set for release this week. The news of the trio’s project was confirmed on Friday.

Huge fan of Diganth, says Pushkara Mallikarjuanaiah

In a candid interaction with CE, Pushkara tells us that he’s been a fan of Diganth ever since he’s watched Gaalipata, Pancharangi, and Manasaare. “After associating with him for Katheyoundu Shuruvagide, I have gotten to know him better, both on screen and off,” he says, adding, “Meanwhile, Suni and I have been planning to work on a romcom for over two years now. Since both of us had prior commitments, we couldn’t work on it till now. But now that he is done with his film Bazaar, which is getting ready for release, I decided to kick-start our next.”

The film, which has a winter backdrop, is likely to go on floors in November or December. “Work on the film will officially start from today,” he adds.

Want to re-create Mungaru Male  magic with Diganth: Suni

Suni is clear about the team’s collective strength, films heavy on romance and humour, and he wants to cash in on that. “Somewhere, we feel that Kannada films are losing their roots. And I include my films when I say this. We are known for our films on romance-based subjects. With this film, I want to bring back the essence of love and make people laugh and cry,” he says.

Since his film, Simple Agi Ondh Love Story, had a class appeal, he plans to go back to see what worked, and include this in his upcoming film. “My films have worked mostly because of the dialogues, which I want to re-create in this film. With Diganth in the picture, I also want to recreate the magic of Mungaru Male and Gaalipata,” he says.

Not just business: Diganth

Ever since Dignath came across Suni’s Simple Agi Ondh Love Story, he knew that one day he wanted to work with the director. “And that wish has finally come true. He is a good technician with a great sense of humour, and I am confident of the outcome,” says the Pancharangi actor.

His finds the team passionate, which is why he’s signed the film. “Whether it is Pushkar or Rakshit Shetty, they are producing good films. After having interacted with them, I feel they don’t just think on the lines of business, which makes it an interesting team to work with,” he says.
