My Story director clarifies press meet comments

Roshni Dinaker, whose debut film My Story was met with extremely negative reactions upon release, called a press meet in Ernakulam on Monday to address the heavy online attacks on her film.

The director also expressed displeasure over the fact that actors Prithviraj and Parvathy, who play the two main characters, were absent from the film's promotions.

There were reports that Roshni felt animosity towards the two actors, but she denied this in a conversation with Cinema Express. "I have got nothing against Prithviraj and Parvathy. That was not what I meant. It's true that I was upset by their absence during the promotions, but that doesn't mean I have got something against them. As they are both part of the film, I wish they had taken a more active part in promoting it, regardless of where they are. And there was no support from WCC either," the filmmaker says.

Attacks from online trolls and fan associations--a knee-jerk reaction to Parvathy's comments against Mammootty's Kasaba--began way before the film's release and influenced the initial audience response, claims Roshni. "Given the kind of budget it has, it hurts when someone decides to boycott your film way before release and tells others to do the same. Why are they after me and my film for something Parvathy said? How are we going to recover the losses now? I also have a family to look after."
