Puneeth Rajkumar’s upcoming film, directed by Pavan Wadeyar and made under Rockline Productions, is set to roll from March 8. There has been much curiousity over who would be paired opposite the star in this yet-to-be-titled project. The film's makers have been considering bringing in fresh faces on board, and it looks like the team has finally found its female lead.

Priyanka Jawalkar, who is making her debut in Telugu with Vijay Devarakonda’s Taxi Wala, has bagged  the lead in Puneeth's film, which will be a big break for her in Kannada. This will the actor's second film overall, and her first in Kannada.

According to our source, the film's makers were scouting for a fresh pair, and they felt Priyanka fit the bill. The actor has apparently signed on the dotted line and will be joining the sets soon.

Priyanka is a Maharashtrian, who was born and raised in Anantpur. A software engineer, she has also studied statistics and done a year-long fashion-designing course at NIFT, besides doing an acting course with Bhikshu.

Though her big-screen debut Taxi Wala, directed by Rahul Sankrityan, is yet to be released, she has already worked on short films. It was after she made a name for herself through this medium that she had offers pouring in for the big screen.

More details about the Puneeth-starrer will be shared once the cast starts shooting. The film also features Priyanka Jawalkar and Ravi Shankar, and has music by D Immam and cinematography by Vaidy.
