Yogaraj Bhat to launch his own record label

The Kannada film music industry is about to get competitive with Yogaraj Bhat launching his own audio company. Having established himself as a successful director, and also owning a production house — Yogaraj Movies — he is now foraying into the music industry as well.

Speculations are a rife that the audio label might be named Yograj Music or YB Music, and a formal announcement is expected soon. The first audio rights to be bought by the company will be for Kannadakagi Ondanu Othi, for which Bhatru has written lyrics for two songs. Our source tells us that the main reason for Yogaraj Bhat coming out with his own music company is expectations not being met. “He is a director and famous lyricist too. He feels that a few of his songs are not meeting his expectations. Though this has not been the case with those featuring big heroes, he is concerned about those that feature second-level heroes and upcoming talents. He feels that songs from their films are not getting the right kind of promotion, and hence, wants to take this initiative,” says the source.

His aim apparently is to make sure that Kannada music promotion is done the right way, and he believes that digital and social media will be an excellent platform. “The music company just needs the right kind of staff, for which Bhatru has tied up with a company,” says our source.

The company will be selective in taking up audio rights. It is also said that he might pick up rights for his own film, Panchatantra. “If V Harikrishna, the music director of Panchatantra, is not taking the music rights under his label D Beats, then Bhatru will consider buying the album,” adds the source.

Incidentally, Puneeth Rajkumar recently launched his own music label PRK Audio.
