The next film of the Star Wars franchise, based on the character Han Solo, Solo: A Star Wars Story is all set to premiere at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival next month on May 15. 

The space fiction film directed by Ron Howard will screen 10 days before its official May 25 release.

The Lucas Films production stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo and Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, as well as Emilia Clarke and Woody Harrelson. Filmmaker duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who were supposed to helm the film was removed from the project last summer over creative differences.

The stand-alone film traces the story of Han Solo  who meets his future copilot and friend Chewbacca before the events in the original 1977 Star Wars

Apart from Solo, the other Star War films screened at Cannes were, Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.

The Cannes film festival is scheduled to happen between May 9 and May 18.
