Lucia fame Sathish Ninasam set to make his Tamil debut

After around 8 years and 22 films in Kannada, Sathish Ninasam is all set to take his talent to Kollywood very soon. The actor who started with notable characters scored high with his lead role in Lucia. Since then he continues to impress audiences with his varied roles in Kannada.

The actor made an announcement about his Tamil debut on social media, that drew the attention of a lot of his followers. Sathish, who completed the first schedule of his upcoming film, Godhra headed to Chennai soon after.

When CE spoke with the actor, he was glad to reveal his future career plans and the factors that made him decide to do a film in another industry. “I am going to Chennai for a discussion about the script of my Tamil debut and I am glad for the opportunity. This way, I can establish myself in a bigger market, which is important for me as an actor, and for the Kannada industry on the whole,” says Sathish.

The film is being helmed by Tamil director Anees. “I am not in a position to reveal many details. What made it interesting for me is the fact that it is a cult based film that is intensive and raw. It is based on the real life story of a rowdy who was based out of Madurai, and I'll be playing him,” he adds.

It was on the invitation from the makers of the film that Sathish decide to do the project. They felt that he would be the perfect for the role. “The filmmakers there liked my performance in films like Lucia, Drama and Love in Mandya among others, and were keen to work with me. In fact, they felt I was tailor-made for the script,” says Sathish. The story of the film took two years to finalise, after which Sathish was approached. It will go on floors from November.

The actor is also learning Tamil, as he wants to dub his parts in his own voice for the film. He says that has been inspired by his best friend, Sudeep who has worked in various film industries. “Sudeep tried his hands in Tamil, Telugu and Bollywood, and he has succeeded. Now he is heading to Hollywood. He has created an excellent market for all of us and has a fan following across the globe,” he says.

Though he knows that he is stepping into new territories, he says that “by heart, I will always remain a Kannadiga and would want to make everyone proud with my work.” Sathish has also got offers from Tollywood and Bollywood.
