Muniratna Kurukshetra was officially announced on Ugadi this year, and the project went on floors from August 9. And now, the film is inching towards completion.

There is much excitement about the next schedule of Darshan’s 50th film, which starts from November 24. The actor, who stars as Duryodhana, will be shooting a crucial episode in the epic, the gadayuddha, in which he will fight Bheema, played by Saifi Akhtar Ali.

The actor has completed the introductory fight sequence, and is waiting for the producer’s to get permission from the animal welfare board to complete shooting for his first song. Then, there are his swayamwara episodes, and the production house estimates that his portions, and the film’s shooting will be completed by December 20.

Considering that the magnum opus Kurukshetra, made in 2D and 3D, is shot with two cameras, the makers are hopeful of completing the shoot in 300 days (150 days per camera). Meanwhile, we are told that around 800 people are working on the film every day.

“While 500 people are part of the shoot, 300 technicians are at the edit desk, finishing off the post-production works that includes graphics and VFX,” says our source, adding, “With so much of work being done day in and day out, the team is hopeful of releasing Muniratna Kurukshetra in February 2018.”

The big-budget film, produced by Muniratna, has an ensemble cast including Arjun Sarja, Ambareesh, Ravichandran, Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, Nikhil Kumar, Aditi Arya, and Pavithra Lokesh. The film has music by V Harikrishna and cinematography by Jai Vincent. Action choreography is handled by King Solomon of Baahubali fame, with Makuta team working on the graphics.
