Darshan to play Boxer in Wodeyar

Kannada cinema is taking an interest in sports-based movies, and roping in big stars for them. We had recently reported that S Krishna’s next with Sudeep will be a sports themed movie. Now we hear that director Pavan Wadeeyar, who will be helming Darshan’s 51^st movie, will have the actor playing the role of a boxer in the film.

Titled Wodeyar, the film to be produced by Sandesh N Pavan, who is nearly done with the script, will soon start on pre-production work. The film on boxing will also have a good portion of romance. “Pavan had a oneliner of a sports story and the producer liked it and felt that it was tailormade for Darshan,” says our source.

In Wodeyar, the 'Challenging Star' will star opposite two heroines. The team is on the lookout for the actresses, says our source.

Filmmakers and the actor are going to great lengths to keep it as real as they can. While Darshan is training for the ring, the filmmakers are placing a realistic match at the movie’s climax.

The director is waiting for Darshan to complete shooting of his epic drama Kurukshetra and may start the shoot for Wodeyar from the end of December or early January. They plan to shoot in locations such as Bengaluru, Mysuru and Mangaluru.
