Rachita Ram starts her ‘hatke’ trail with Ayogya

Directorial debut of S Mahesh Kumar, protege of Yogaraj Bhat, has been in the news from the day it was announced. Ayogya, starring Sathish Ninasam, even had Sudeep doing the opening clap.

There was then speculation about who will play the heroine, and names of actresses such as Aindrita Ray and Kavya Gowda were doing the rounds. However, no official confirmation was given from the production end. Now it looks like we have a name. Putting all rumours to rest, we hear that the director has signed on Rachita Ram to play the lead heroine.

CE had recently reported that Rachita has been wanting to move away from her usual roles, and was looking to sign up for a film that would give her a ‘hatke’ character to essay. Mahesh Kumar’s movie seems to be her first step in that direction. The actress has been looking to work with new directors and liked the way Mahesh narrated the subject. She accepted the role also because it is one she has never attempted before.

While an official announcement has not been made yet, the director Mahesh says that he is happy with the choice. “My film needed an actress who can easily transform into the local, traditional Mandya girl,” says Mahesh. “I had one actress in mind, while I was scripting the movie, and it was Rachita Ram. I told her this when I first met her.”

Ayogya, which brings Sathish Ninasam and Rachita together on screen for the first time, will go on floors from September 10. The film also features senior actress Saritha, who is known for her films with Rajkumar and is making a comeback into Kannada industry after a decade. Chikkanna, Rangayana Raghu and Ravishankar are the other actors playing prominent roles. The film has music by V Harikrishna, with lyrics by Yogaraj Bhat, and cinematography by Preeth.
