Joker goes places

Filmmaker Raju Murugan's political satire Joker will be screened at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2017, which will commence on August 11. Joker has already travelled to many film festivals, and has also won the National Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil. "The film speaks about activists who work for the people against all odds. I feel humbled when I hear people talk about it even today," says Raju. "Since it deals with a relevant social subject that highlights the lack of adequate toilet facilities, I believe it appeals to all sections of people across the nation," he adds.

This is the 8th edition of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, which has Vidya Balan as its brand ambassador. The chief guest of the festival this year is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
