Sriimurali returns to his Chandra Chakori avatar

The Mufti hero wants to reach out a wider audience and hopes his next, to be helmed by Chethan Kumar, will do the trick
Sriimurali returns to his Chandra Chakori avatar

Sriimurali's last release Mufti ran successfully for 100 days, and the actor is all set to announce his next project on the auspicious day of Ugadi.

We hear the actor has been busy choosing the right film from 30 scripts given to him over the past few months. There were even speculations of him working with certain directors. But it looks he has finally zeroed in on his next film.

Sriimurali will be associating with director Chethan Kumar of Bahaddhur and Bharjari fame. The film will be made on a larger scale than the director’s previous two projects and, more interestingly, with this film Sriimurali will start work with his friend who is opening a new production house.

The actor is said to have lined up a series of projects to be made under this new banner. More details about these will be announced on the day of the festival.

While there were reports that Sriimurali might do a film with Hombale Films, directed by Yogi G Raj, this project has now been postponed because a few tweaks needed to be made in the script. Similarly, there were reports about Chethan Kumar helming the debut of Ambareesh’s son Abhishek, which now stands cancelled. Instead, Sriimurali and Chetan Kumar are now coming together for a film.

So what kind of subject finally caught the attention of the young actor? Our source says, “With this film, Sriimurali returns to the family-entertainer genre, like Chandra Chakori.” It is notable that Chandra Chakori ran for two years and brought the actor into the limelight.

After films such as Uggram, Rathaavara and Mufti, the actor seems to have decided that it is time to try a different genre. “Sriimurali has, in fact, been looking for a role that would be like the one he played in Chanda Chakori, and he believes that Chethan’s story is just right. This entertainer can cater to a range of filmgoers, from the masses to the family crowd… it has something for everyone,” our source tells us, adding, “Fans who fell in love with his character in Chanda Chakori will connect with this character too.”

The new film is set to go on floors from May.
