Winning National award, is of course a boon, says Sanchari Vijay, the actor who won the National Award for Naanu Avanalla Avalu. He had played the role of a transwoman in the film.

But did it help him win more projects? “Not as many as you would in other industries, but fortunately I get to experiment with different characters. One such is in my upcoming film Nan Magale Heroine, and after that I have my hands full with projects that givw me the opportunity to act.” He's glad that directors feel confident that they can experiment with him and come forward with unique subjects. “Though this is a trial and error method, I am content with the work I am getting, and am glad for the space I am in right now.”

This will be his first attempt at comedy and the actor will be seen playing a director in Nan Magale Heroine, which is directed by Baahubali. “Directing is the toughest job in cinema world,” says the actor. “The struggles he faces, from script writing to the film’s release, has been shown through my character in Nan Magale Heroine. But all of this has been done with a good dose of humour, which is what is special.”

Sanchari says that comedy has certain audience, and he wants to win over the viewers who are glued to ‘parallel cinema’.

He says, “The trend is changing, and we have seen successful films without adding commercial elements, and I want take that path.”
