Pooja Doshi thrilled about Tollywood debut

Pooja Doshi believes she couldn’t have had a better launch in Telugu industry as she awaits the release of her film Kaadhali, slated to hit the screens on Friday. Her journey with Tollywood began nearly 10 months ago when she was auditioned for the film. Recalling the experience, she told CE, "I had learnt about the project through an audition group. Even though I wasn’t quite sure about the project, I sent my profile and I was eventually called for the screen test in Hyderabad. I did 2-3 screen tests, shot for a photo-shoot and met producer Suresh Babu. On the same day, I was finalized."

The southern filmdom is quite new to Pooja, who admits to have been apprehensive when she signed the project. "Initially, I did feel nervous because I don’t know anybody in the south. But I was keen to explore opportunities as a lot of leading heroines - Genelia and Ileana - had started their career here. I still wasn’t convinced because I had heard a lot of dark stories about how difficult it is for a heroine to land a clean role."

Thankfully, her notion changed after meeting director Pattabhi. She plays a doctor in the film. "She is a simple middle-class girl. The story is about how her life changes with the entry of two guys."

Sai Ronak and Harish Kalyan play the male leads, and Pooja enjoyed working with them. "My director and Harish were very helpful with my dialogues. I couldn’t connect with the language in any form. They helped me understand each word. I would rehearse each scene and lines with my co-stars and then go for shoot," she said.
