'Just happy to be part of Arjun’s 150th’

While excitement levels are soaring high in Arjun Sarja’s fan world, with the actor working on his 150th film this year, Sruthi Hariharan too can’t seem to hide her enthusiasm for Vismaya to be released as Nibunan in Tamil. 

She spoke to CE about the bilingual film that is set to release this weekend. The actress, who will be seen opposite Arjun in the movie is currently busy shooting for Chaitanya’s upcoming project.

“First of all, a huge shout out to Arjun Sarja. He completes 150 films this year, which is about 100 more than what I have done,” she says.

“It feels good to be a small part of such a big project,” adds Sruthi. Ultimately the movie is of the “action kind Arjun Sarja film,” she says adding, “But if you watch it and observe the details, you’ll find several characters building the storyline”.

Sruthi says that she has absolute trust in director Arun Vaidyanathan to get the story across. The actress plays the wife of Arjun, who is a police officer in the movie. She believes that those in the army and police do not care much of their family’s well being while defending their country. “The society calls them heroes. But back home, they have a mother, wife or children who live in the constant fear of losing this hero,” she says.

What appealed to Sruthi about her character in Vismaya the most was how the wife with a heavy heart is willing to let her husband go. “I hope this portrayal has turned out the way I percieve it,” she says.

As an artiste, Sruthi wants to essay every role that interests her, from being a wife or love interest to doing heroine centric movies.

She informs that she will be playing the role of an ACP in Chaitanya’s film. “That excites me. We come across characters that we can never be and that’s the fun part of being an actor. You can be anyone you want to be,” she says.

Sruthi adds that it is so important to be able to believe in oneself in order to cheat the self to act. The film, made in Kannada and Tamil releases on the same day in the two languages.

The actress is also excited about sharing screenspace with Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Sudharani, Varalakshmi SharathKumar and Prasanna. “I am a huge fan of them. The cast matters. I am happy to have shared screen space with a good team,” says Sruthi. 

While the actress has garenered a lot of attention in Sandalwood, she hasn’t been as successful in the Tamil industry, which she attributes to just being “unlucky” in that industry. 

“I did a Balaji Shakthivel film, but it got stuck half way at the production stage,” Sruthi says adding that she is unsure of its release. 

She says that she has been around for far too long for any kind of success or failure to affect her. “It doesn’t stir me emotionally anymore. If the film does well, I am happy and I know it will open to better opportunities. If the film doesn’t, I will not sit back and cry because I have already passed that phase,” she adds. Sruthi says that she has learnt to be mature about it.
