Chekka Chivantha Vaanam Trailer 2 is released; Vijay Sethupathy helps Simbu take down Arvind Swami?

With Chekka Chivantha Vaanam releasing on September 27, the makers released a second trailer a couple of hours back.

Continuing on from our learnings from the first trailer launched on August 25, this trailer also gives a few more interesting insights into the family of Senapathi.

Simbu, in an opening monologue at a foreign location wonders who benefits the most were Senapathi (Prakashraj) were to die. While the video wants us to think of it as a rumination, possibilities are this particular dialogue will come before a crucial interaction with one of the characters who will then turn on Simbu. The edits then paint to Varathan (Arvind Swami), Thyagu (Arun Vijay) and Rasool (Vijay Sethupathi) making us think it could be any of them.

A shootout that ensues at the home of Thyagu where he saves his kids and Renu (Aishwarya Rajesh) comes out to embrace them with more security personnel coming in. It seems that Thyagu was successful in saving his children but the culprit escapes. He then tries to chase after him. Another shot of Thyagu shows of him opening a door and entering triumphantly with a smile on his face. Was he successful at apprehending the one he was chasing? Or did he find out a greater truth? Either ways it is telling that both of Thyagu's shots in this trailer are shown within the confines of his house.

The Varathan portions offer more clue. The first shot is that of him being shown a huge land by a person wearing a black shirt and a gold watch. This could be Thiagarajan, who was shown in the first trailer in similar attire. Maybe it is Thiagarajan, who subtly threatens Prakashraj in the first trailer, is the one who turns Arvind Swami's head with greed. Another telling shot is that of Aditi Rao Hydari's character Parvathi filming Arvind Swamy and asking him if he is the next in line after his dad to which he acknowledges. There are two takeaways here. His full name is Varadarajan (might just be a nod to Mani's great gangster film - Nayagan) and the second could be that this whole clip that is being filmed might just be a Chekov's gun that fires late on in the story. Bear with me till the conclusion on why I think so.

The third telling shot is that of Arvind Swamy telling Jyotika with a devilish smile that maybe his brothers ought to take care of themselves. Correlate with the first trailer when Jyotika asks if this is a declaration of war, then it means that this decision is taken after Arvind Swami decides it is time for him to occupy the vacant (or soon to be vacant) throne. The fourth shot of Arvind Swami is that he only wears black for much of both the trailer's run time except on two occasions - one where he seems to have finished ablutions after his father's death and the second time when he is chasing someone with guns. But in the second one there still seems to be black in his short choices. One wonders if this means that Arvind Swami is going to be a one track minded character with less grey in his thoughts and actions.

Then we get Simbu. He seems to know his brother(s) want him dead and goes on a revenge spree. Correlate with the first trailer and the shot earlier in this trailer about land - it seems that he wants that land for his own, as yet unrevealed, purpose. That he joins hands with Vijay Sethupathi and goes after the ones who are trying to kill him shows the nous in him. Or maybe he has dirt on Vijay Sethupathi's Rasool that he intends to use lest Vijay helps him.

But the one shown least here is Vijay Sethupathi. He has two shots. One where he questions Arvind Swami (his childhood friend) if he had any hand in his father's death. Second when he joins up with Simbu to take down assailants. Maybe Vijay Sethupathi went into the police force thanks to Prakashraj and has been a reliable dirty cop for him and his son but after the death of the man who gave him his life, he wants to find out who did this and exact justice. Or maybe Vijay Sethupathi is playing the double blind here by first taking down the family of Senapathi from the inside - thanks to Simbu - and tries to frame Arvind Swami for it with the help of Aditi Rao Hydari. Because once a dirty cop always a dirty cop.

Either way we can't wait for September 27 to come her for us to catch this epic tale.
