Closer than ever

How about watching 3D films whenever and wherever you want and that too without having to wear those bulky glasses? WOW 3D Screen Guards, which work as screen guards, also have the technology to capture 3D pictures. If that's not enough, they also convert 2D content to 3D on the go. The screenguards were recently launched at the trailer launch event of the Rajinikanth starrer 2.0. Speaking to us, Anubha Sinha, the brainchild behind this technology says, "We came up with a screen guard which is easy to apply on anybody's smartphone. For now, we've got variants for the latest iPhone. Various models for different makes will follow."

Anubha says the screen guard has been made keeping in mind that most of the content today is in 2D. "And there aren't any gadgets for 3D content either. Thanks to this app, even live videos can be converted into 3D as it plays without any delay. We've received the 2018 AIS Technology Award for this technology." The entire autostereoscopic technology and components are completely made in India. "The screen guard is an array of Nano Plano-Convex lenses flattened one above the other in alliance with the pixels of the phone. Each cell of the lens behaves exactly like a projector when placed on the white-lit background. The beam of rays passing through the Plano-convex lens in the screen guard interacts with each point of the image and transforms into ray emitting sources, thus enabling 3D experience."

The technology works with an app that will have video streaming platforms as well, making the content 3D as the video streams. The app also has a camera option which allows the user to take 3D photos. "Through this app, you can go to YouTube directly. We will backward integrate it soon so that more streaming platforms will be added," says Anubha.

The company has tied up with Lyca Productions' mother company. "Lyca, being a telecom company in the UK, has come on board and are keen in taking this technology throughout the world. They're also a Business partner for marketing with us and the 2.0 trailer can be watched in 3D with our screen guard. After the film is made available on streaming services, our customers can enjoy the film the way it's meant to be," concludes Anubha.
