The makers of Atharvaa-starrer Boomerang have completed the film’s shooting. The film was mainly shot in and around Chennai, Aruppukottai, Virudhunagar and Theni, with a duet song shot in Andaman.

Director R Kannan tells CE, “We’ve wrapped up the film in 45 days. I am confident that this film will work in Atharvaa’s favour. He had to endure the prosthetic make-up, and he’s done a brilliant job. When I had conceived his character, it demanded three looks, and we got award-winning make-up technicians, Preetisheel Singh and Mark Troy D’Souza, on board. They were here spending 12 hours to get his looks right. They had to focus on the minutest of details, including the shape of his eyes, nose, and so on.”

Kannan adds, “It’s an action entertainer, and Atharvaa plays someone who fights for a social cause. Besides the commercial elements, we have a solid message for the society. Initially, I considered naming the film in Tamil because I am a huge fan of Tamil titles, but went with Boomerang because I felt it’s more apt for the story.”

The director is all praise for his villain, Upen Patel of I fame. “The face-off between Upen and Atharvaa will be interesting. Initially, he found it difficult to understand Tamil, but he managed,” he smiles.

With the post-production work taking place over the next 60 days, Kannan is eyeing an August release for Boomerang. “We’ve even drafted a letter to the Producers’ Council requesting an August release,” he signs off.
