Dhorai begins work on Hindi webseries

Director VZ Dhorai, known for films such as Mugavaree, Thotti Jaya and Nepali, has now ventured into the web series segment, with  some episodes of the Hindi series to be made in 3D as well.

Speaking to CE, Dhorai says, “I think the script suits only Hindi and that’s the reason for my going North. It’s the story about a guy (played by Ajay) sharing his love experience with a girl (played by Shwetha Shekar of Aruvi fame). The film will be a mix of all genres one would associate with love.”

The series will be 10-13 episodes long and shooting is already underway in Chennai. “We’re shooting the interior scenes here. Since the story is based in Mumbai, the exterior shots will be canned there in the next schedule,” adds Dhorai.

The 3D format episodes will also be VR accessible. “The regular 2D version will also be available but those with 3D ready TVs or smart TVs can view the film in that version. Those who use VR headset for their mobile phones will also be able to enjoy it in a format they’ve never seen an Indian web series before,” says Dhorai who adds that the script demands such a treatment. “Moreover, we’ve seen 3D films in genres such as fantasy and horror but I don’t think anyone has used this technology for such a genre. I actually checked if there are any such films for references purposes but I couldn’t find any.” Produced by Bala from Malaysia, the makers are discussing with major firms and are yet to decide which platform they will be releasing this web series in.

In a Facebook post, the series’ female lead Shwetha Shekar said, “When I started reading the script, I realised he had already named my character Shwetha way before we even knew I would be acting as her. I think I was more than destined to work on this project.”
