‘The dance number has given me so much visibility’

Anson Paul is excited to shake a leg with Jayasurya and dancing sensations Sonal and Nicole for the track Changathee nannayal in Aadu 2
‘The dance number has given me so much visibility’

Now that the first track, that too an unexpected dance number, in Aadu 2 is out and going viral, Anson Paul says even he finds it tough to soak in his rugged and rustic makeover.

"I am thrilled as the song Changathee Nannayaal has given me so much visibility. This is my first experience dancing to such energetic beats. I have been receiving a lot of calls about my new look and dancing style," says Anson.

The actor, though, confesses he was a bit apprehensive when director Midhun Manuel Thomas told him about the dance number. "I never took any formal dance lessons or even danced in movies. The fact that I was supposed to shake a leg with Sonal and Nicole made me jittery. But, choreographer Shobi master initiated me into it and soon I got into the groove," says Anson, adding that the biggest challenge, however, was to match Jayasurya in his energy level.

The actor, who plays the antagonist in Aadu 2, says most of  his dance steps were his own. "I just recreated something I have seen in many other Tamil movies. Many people, from the industry and outside, told me I did a good job. Now, I will have to seriously think of taking dance lessons," he laughs.

The actor is aware of the certain negative reactions the song has created. "This isn't an item number. The song has a certain significance in the story line. It isn't just something plugged in for the sake of it," he says.

For Anson, it all started when producer Vijay Babu offered him the role. "Vijay sir wanted to know whether I would be interested. I didn't have to think before saying yes. Just like anybody else, I was  also waiting for a sequel to Aadu Oru Bheekarajeevi Aanu and being a part of it is a great career move," says Anson.

But, he is quite tight-lipped about the character and its name. "Well, all I can say is the character is quite a significant one with a striking name. For the time being, it has to be kept under wraps," he adds.

For Anson, his experience wouldn't be complete without mentioning Jayasurya. "Jayettan is my mentor. It was through him that I landed the role in Su Su Sudhi Vatmeekam. Even in Aadu 2, I would seek tips from him about moulding my character's looks. He is a constant support," says Anson.

Aadu 2 will hit the screens on December 22.
